On Saturday morning, the lovely ladies at Green Beauty in the Yonge-Lawrence Village invited me back to enjoy an Artistic Nail Design manicure. Spa Manager Jayna raved about it during my first visit for a Consonant Facial so I had to come back and check it out!
I’ve tried all kinds of soak-off gel manicures, but I’d never heard of Artistic Nail Design before. The Colour Gloss curse in just 30 seconds under an LED lamp, instead of 2 minutes under harmful UV rays like many formulas I’ve tried. They also boast a base coat that not only protects the natural nail, but strengthens it with added keratin (protein).
I chose a beautiful deep purple colour called Fierce – it’s perfect for fall and goes with everything – so versatile!
Jayna soaked, shaped and moisturized my nails and cuticles in preparation for the gel and explained the application process as well as the soak-off procedure.
I have a UV light at home (bad bad bad) but I’m hoping to invest in an LED lamp in the near future. There have been increased reports in cuticle cancer from high exposure to UV lamps due to the popularity of gel manicures and I don’t want anything to do with that! Luckily, if you’ve invested in gel polishes, most will cure under LED light as well and faster too! I was pretty impressed with the 30 second curing time (per coat). Four times faster than UV lamp curing and I was in and out within 30 minutes total!
